On the afternoon of July 27, 2017, the first session (33rd in total) of Soft Science Research Salon in 2017 was held in the Academic Report Hall 1015 of the SISS. The theme of this session was “Interpretation of Development Plan for the Development of New Generation of Artificial Intelligence and the Development Route of Artificial Intelligence in Shanghai”. For the salon, Dr. Li Xiuquan of China Academy of Science and Technology Development Strategy Research, as one of the main drafters of the plan, was invited to interpret the Development Plan for the Development of New Generation of Artificial Intelligence, and also for interaction and exchange with participating experts. The salon was presided over by Dr. Wang Yingchun, director of the Scientific and Technological Development Research Center of SISS.

　　

　　Dr. Li Xiuquan made detailed interpretation of the Development Plan for the Development of New Generation of Artificial Intelligence with respect to strategic thinking, compilation process and the main contents. More than 30 experts from Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission, Shanghai Municipal Development and Reform Commission, Shanghai-New York University, Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology of Chinese Academy Of Sciences, the International Labor Security Research Institute of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of China, Fudan University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, East China University of Political Science and Law, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, Shanghai Academy of Sciences, Tencent Research Institute and the enterprise circle conducted hot discussions on the contents of the Development Plan for the Development of New Generation of Artificial Intelligence and the interpretation by Dr. Li, and shared ideas on how Shanghai should further implement the national strategy and find suitable route of development.

　　

　　Development Plan for the Development of New Generation of Artificial Intelligence was the first document for systematic deployment of China in the AI field, and it contains systematic planning and deployment of the overall ideas, strategic target, main tasks and guarantee measures for the AI development in China. Entrusted by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Shanghai Institute for Science of Science participated in the research of relevant subjects in the research and preparation of the plan. In the next step, SISS will organize advantageous forces and collaborate with relevant teams, to carry out systematic researches on the innovative development of artificial intelligence.
