On May 13 and 14, 2016, Pujiang Innovation Forum —— 2016 Technology Foresight International Seminar, sponsored by the SISS jointly with China Academy of Science and Technology Development Strategy Research and UNESCO, was held in Shanghai. The theme of this seminar was “Big data and technology foresight”, and known experts in domestic and overseas fields of big data and technology foresight addressed at the seminar.

　　

　　The opening ceremony of the seminar was presided over by Luo Dajin, CPC General Branch secretary and deputy general director of SISS (in charge of work), Lin Xin, CPC Committee secretary of China Academy of Science and Technology Development Strategy Research, Ma Xingfa, deputy general director of Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission and Prof. Guo Xinli, executive deputy secretary of the CPC Committee of Shanghai Jiaotong University attended seminar and delivered speeches. 13 speakers from well-known technology foresight and science and technology innovation policy research institutions in China and overseas delivered theme reports on topics of big data analysis method, the application of big data methods in technology foresight, and technology foresight and innovation policy, to jointly explore how to make use of big data and other technical means, accurately grasp the future trend of the development of science and technology, further give play to the important role of technology foresight in promoting the coordinated development of science and technology, society, economy and environment in the new era background.

　　

　　At the seminar, research fellow Li Wan, deputy general director of SISS presented the progress of technology foresight in Shanghai, the role of technology foresight in scientific and technological innovation and management and the methods and achievements of SISS in the work of technology foresight, with a report entitled “Scientific and technological innovation management based on foresight concept (Shanghai case)”, receiving high appraisal by the participants.

　　

　　At the end of the seminar, the SISS and China Academy of Science and Technology Development Strategy Research and the UNESCO jointly launched the Initiative on Establishing the International Technology Foresight Research Cooperation Network, which was unanimously supported by all participating institutions and guests. On the afternoon of May 14, the seminar was successfully concluded with good achievements.
