In the afternoon of July 16th, Dr. Miguel Sierra Pereiro (Agricultural Engineer), Innovation and Communication Manager at the Agricultural Research Institute of Uruguay, visited the Shanghai Institute for Science of Science (SISS) with Marcelo Clovis Magnou Pérez, Consul General of the Consulate General of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay in Shanghai, and his colleagues. Chen Haipeng, the vice director (Presiding) of SISS, Zhuang Jun, the director of the Industrial Innovation Research department, Chen Hongguang, Associate Professor, and Hou Jingqiong, a staff member of the Science and Technology Development Research Center, joined the meeting.　

　　After the visit of the Uruguayan side in April, this visit is another discussion on the specific areas and intentions of deepening cooperation and exchanges between the two sides. Chen Haipeng welcomed Consul General Marcelo’s visit again. Dr. Pereiro gave an overview of the Agricultural Research Institute of Uruguay’s development. Zhuang Jun gave answers to questions that interested Dr. Pereiro, such as the need for an independent science and technology innovation department, the considerations of formulating long-term science and technology plans, accelerating the commercialization of scientific and technological achievements, and joining the science and technology cooperation in Shanghai. Dr. Pereiro was impressed by Associate Professor Chen Hongguang's comprehensive and systematic explanation of Shanghai's agricultural science and technology. The two sides had a pleasant exchange of experience gained from their respective visits to each other's countries and reached a consensus on strengthening contacts and promoting cooperation.
