SISS participants included Chang Jing, Research Fellow and Director of the Research Department of Innovation Policy; Zhuang Jun, Research Fellow and Director of the Research Department of Industrial Innovation; and colleagues from the Research Department of Industrial Innovation, the Research Department of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and the Pujiang Innovation Forum Research Center.

During the meeting, Emmanuel K. Tangni expressed his deep impression of the SISS delegation's visit to the Sciensano in early September and conveyed his gratitude for the reciprocal reception. Zhuang Jun introduced the institute's fundamental profile and research strengths to the visiting experts. Associate Professor Chen Hongguang from the Research Department of Industrial Innovation delivered a presentation on Shanghai's agricultural sector and advances in synthetic biology. Anne Legrève outlined her research group's work on microbial impacts on plant health, including efforts to establish a “plant clinic” by building a plant disease sample repository. Pierre Becker, specializing in fungicide research, presented the Belgian Coordinated Collection of Microorganisms (BCCM). He elaborated on its microbial strain repository, as well as services and training programs for public and private sector researchers. Both sides exchanged views on potential collaborative activities and initiatives.

Following the meeting, the visitors, accompanied by hosts, toured SISS’s institutional history exhibition, and expressed admiration for Shanghai and enthusiasm for future cooperation.
